St Matthew’s Choir

Music is an important part of the worship at St Matthews. The main aim of the choir is to give a lead to the singing in church, and encourage the congregation to join in. However, we usually sing the communion hymn on our own; and often perform an anthem for special occasions. As well as singing for regular services we are often asked to sing at weddings, which we always enjoy. We are a friendly bunch, and have regular social activities, usually involving food! Choir practice takes place in the church from 6.30pm.

Monday Club

The Monday Club was set up in 1984 to provide a community day centre for the elderly and/or housebound residents of Bromham and Rowde.  The club meets every Monday (except Bank Holidays) in Bromham Social Centre and a two course hot lunch is provided, supplied by the Greyhound pub in Bromham. Afternoons include various activities such as visiting speakers or entertainers, card games, bingo, skittles, quizzes, singalongs etc. Trips out for lunch (on a coach with a lift) occur at times during the year.  The Club runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Mondays, and transport can be provided for anyone who lives within the villages of Rowde or Bromham. Membership is not exclusive to the two villages, but anyone else has to find their own transport. The current cost per day is £4.00 or £5.30 with transport. The organiser is Caroline Culley who can be contacted at carolineculley1@outlook.com

Rowde Ladies

The Rowde Ladies Club was started nearly forty years ago by the then Vicar's wife as a Young Wives Group. Over the years, we have all aged and so changed our name! We are a very informal group and are not attached to any other governing 'body'. At present, membership stands at about 25 with most members in the 50-70 age group. Our meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month at 8pm mainly in the Rowde Village Hall and our programme consists of speakers, slide shows, garden parties, dinners etc. We also help at various events in the village. For further information please ring 01380 723049

Rowde Toddler Group

St Matthew’s Flower Arrangers

We are a friendly group of people who enjoy flower arranging.
It is fun, not onerous and an opportunity to keep our Church looking as it should – in particular at the time of special festivals.
As with any village some of our members move on to live elsewhere and new families move in. There have been quite a few changes during the 2 years of the pandemic.
We would welcome new members and, if you might want to consider joining us, please contact: Liz Ibbetson on 01380 720630 or wb.ibbetson1@btinternet.com
